Mr. M. S. came to our Center together with his wife. They both suffered physically and emotionally as they were facing a very stressful period in their life. As if the stress at work was not enough, Mr. M.S had a big share of it in his home church also. The denomination they belong to is called “Christian Worship According to the Gospel. Being his therapist here, after a few days of treatments, he felt safe to share with me the fact that he came to Herghelia with some prejudices. He had had talks previously with Adventists on spiritual matters, but that experience was a very bitter one for him. It seemed that one particular SDA brother acted impolitely and was pushy about his beliefs.
Despite that, his wife’s diabetes and the urge he felt to prioritize rest and to reflect on the matters that were troubling him, made him determined to consider coming to Herghelia. A recent very unpleasant event taking place in his home church bothered him deeply and he felt he needed to share it with somebody close and trustworthy.

‘‘We prayed together, we shared spiritual topics respecting each other’s views and in the last meeting together he couldn’t refrain from literally bursting into tears. He shared how happy he was that he freed himself from the prejudices he had had about Adventists. Before coming to Herghelia he thought we were all the same – like the ones he had met before – but here he discovered this was not true.’’
The time spent in Herghelia was very beneficial for both of them. His wife’s diabetes responded very well to our approach and the conversations we had together every treatment session, were a delight for both of us. We prayed together, we shared spiritual topics respecting each other’s views and in the last meeting together he couldn’t refrain from literally bursting into tears. He shared how happy he was that he freed himself from the prejudices he had had about Adventists. Before coming to Herghelia he thought we were all the same – like the ones he had met before – but here he discovered this was not true. He told me he appreciated our Sabbath school time very much and planned to suggest starting something similar in his church. Soon after arriving home, he called me and happily shared with me that he attended a health program organized by Podiș Health Center in the SDA church located in his hometown.
I strongly believe that God prepares sincere people from all Christian denominations for The Loud Cry. I say this, bearing in mind a particular very sensitive, complicated situation in his church, that he shared with me.
A few years ago, the Lord took him out of the Orthodox church and He gave him a mission in the church called Christian Worship According to the Gospel. As a new believer in this faith, and with much zeal, he started an outreach effort in a nearby area. As a result, he was able to establish a small congregation. Soon after, somebody falsely accused him of sexual harassment. Later, he discovered that the reason was to allow the position of deacon to be taken by someone else – the real abuser! Mr. M.S said he had clear proof of this. They not only ignored him but announced that he was banned from attending that new congregation and also was refused any responsibility in his home church. Mr. M.S earnestly prayed about this situation, that the Lord would open a way for him to get involved in the mission he loved. The answer came sooner than he thought. The director of a nearby home for the elderly, his former classmate, knowing about his faith, requested some spiritual services two times a week at her institution. She had asked the local Orthodox priest to do this at first, but he refused to get involved, saying it was not his mission. Mr. M.S. accepted.
When Mr. M.S. came to Herghelia he was right in the middle of this affair. On the one hand, he rather liked what he was doing in the elderly home, while on the other hand, he missed his first love – his first mission. I encouraged him to fully concentrate on his work with the elderly and leave everything else in God’s hands. I mentioned before, that I believe the Lord is preparing his faithful people for the Loud Cry. People, like Mr. M.S. have to first see Babylon’s corruption and be convinced of its apostasy.
We call each other, from time to time, and he always mentions that he is looking forward to coming back to Herghelia. I am praising the Lord that He was the one to change this dear man’s heart from being skeptical about Adventists to somebody so eager to go back and be among Adventists again!
